The Yak is Back.

Well, it has been far too long since I have updated the blog. I am going to attempt to revive this thing, mostly because I have a new adventure in the works. For two weeks at the beginning of March I am going to be headed to Peru with a few friends from college. Planning is coming together, an the time is drawing close. We are doing a 4 day hike on the Inca trail to Machu Picchu. This ads even more to the usual dilemma of what gear to bring. For the hike I need to get down to only the essentials, one camera body, 17-35mm, 80-200mm, 50mm, tripod, and Lee Grad Filters, batteries, cards and other little essentials. Even stripped down its going to weigh more than I would like...especially since our hike will take us up over 13,000ft in elevation. The laptop will hopefully accompany me on the trip (not the hike of course) so besides a few days of blog silence, I will hopefully be able to do my usual travel updates as the trip progresses. Stay tuned for that.

In other news I entered a local photo contest for Appleton Downtown Inc. I was fortunate to receive both first and second place in the judged competition, and on top of that received the peoples choice nomination, based on facebook votes, for the photo which won first place. A bit more than I expected, but a pleasant surprise.
